Judging from the bent hanger that derailleur took quite the hit.
I had it happen once. I was good 10 miles from my starting point. I had a small branch/twig pop up, got caught in there somehow and quickly broke it off. Had to set it up as a single speed to get out. It was long day.
Yup.. caught a stick.
I had my rear der pushed into my spokes by a rock that kicked up. As I was moving pretty quick, it broke the rear der same as yours and the hanger rotated and punched a hole in my carbon drop out. Expensive day.
Never had a new one snap like that just some old ones on rocks.
I had mine snapped, it was due to stress. Dropped it against the curb too many times.
