I’m about to buy an Endurace 7. Canyon recommends a size L, but I’m considering buying an XL in the hope that I will sit more upright and avoid potential neck pain.

I currently have a sporty city bike where I sit too high on the saddle, resulting in neck pain after 30 minutes, as I lean too much forward and down.

Any suggestions on which size to go for? I’ve attached Canyon’s recommendation chart. Your help is much appreciated.

  1. A larger size is still going to have the same stack:reach ratio and fit generally the same, it will just be too long for you and give you shoulder pain in addition to your neck pain.

I would get the size that fits you and use spacers or a riser stem if you want to raise the handlebars. The Endurace probably isn’t the best choice for you though because it has a weird proprietary cockpit which will limit your ability to adjust fit – something like the Grizl with a normal stem setup or just a different brand road bike would be better.
