So, I did acquire the bike for $75. The person I got it from said he bought it from some old guy who had cancer and couldn't work and "fixed up" this bike to keep busy. But the bike was too tall for him, so he wanted to sell it. Fixed up must be Michigan dialect for parts bin deep dive.
Shimano Derailleurs – can someone identify these? The lack of specific labels makes me think lower end?
Suntour Pro Dropouts – so it's gotta be one of the few frames that came with Suntour components
Specialized Wheelset – Strange choice, but seems like a decent set
Suntour shift levers – Could these be the original Superbe? Yeah, I know the cables are installed incorrectly. It needs a whole tune-up. Whoever worked on this had NO CLUE, but luckily didn't break anything detrimental.
Specialized Headset – so clearly a poor specialized bike was cannibalized for this build…
Some weird knob on the underside of the down tube – please see last picture. No idea what that is for, but any insight would be great!
Serial Number on the BB – 4D5S0106 (N) gonna work on deciding that if I can.
