Appears to be in good condition, and the price your mate says he could get also sounds realistic (at least in Germany). If the bike is in good condition, it sounds like a good deal, despite the older model.

Seems in really nice condition and has the brooks seat that’s worth over £80 so id say a pretty fair price.
Depending on location, he could definitely get £700 as this is a cool color, great condition and still considerably less than a new Brompton.

If you look on eBay, the cheapest Brompton is on for around £520, with a couple in the £600 range and then it goes from there, with a 2016 C for £700 and a basically brand new b75 for £750.
Just from looking on eBay, I’d guess your mates 2009 could probably, reasonably go for around £600, but I think £450 is a good price and personally I love that colour yellow.

A lot depends on how common locally bromptons are.
Like in nyc 600$-700$ 3 speed 2009 quite likely despite the age. Pressure of nyc market would be down ward on the sale price. Bromptons are common here. Got a junction, mini junction and at lest 4 3rd party dealers.
Zip over to Washington DC. 850$ would be the fair price as ain’t common in that city at all.
450£ does sound more than fair in any market currently so it’s a good deal assuming nothing mechanical wrong.

In London, probably a bit more. Outside of London, I’d say that’s about right.

I’d say that’s a fair price. The new equivalent of that bike would be an A line, which sells for £950 brand new or £650-750 second hand. You can’t really compare to anything pre 2004, those bikes had shorter twitchier frames and are generally worth a little less. Similar 3 speeds seem to sell around £500-600, and yellow is a really unusual colour. So as long as your mate is legit and you think the bike is legit then I’d say that’s a good deal

Looks like a good deal. Bike looks in decent condition and the saddle is a good one.
