  1. When you say ‘restored,’ what did that entail? There’s just a very expensive Brooks saddle on it, it’s literally worth twice what the rest of the bike is worth. It’s cheap but functional. Just don’t lock it up for long because thieves know the value of those seats. The bike will be still there though.

  2. everybody thinks there is some story to discover behind vintage bikes but in reality 99% of them were just garbage walmart bikes from a time before walmart

  3. I don’t know why there are so many harsh comments today. There is a regular stream of rusty garbage, that nobody disses, in this sub. Obviously, an old clunker makes some of us happier than a mint Curly Hetchins!
Miixte bikes are never at the lowest end! This may not be valuable, but it’s a perfectly respectable town bike with a reasonably stiff frame.

Thanks everyone. He restore this about 10years ago and was a gift when I was 25. I was appreciative of it regardless of the value.

I’m only asking because I don’t use it at all, and am selling it and I have no idea how much I should sell it for. Wasn’t thinking it was anything amazingly special but thought it would be good idea I added some sort of information about it! Thanks everyone

  7. 70’s Raleigh mixte, based on lugs, pedals and seat post bolt. The 60’s had Simplex plastic (delrin) derailers as original. The SunTour was a huge step up in quality that replaced the Simplexes. The Simplex shifts very well, but are not robust enough for everyday pounding. The bike-boom made companies seek more components to meet demand…enter SunTour. I have a Simplex-fitted Raleigh “record” mixte from the 60’s. 1020 steel is heavy, but we never thought twice about pushing these tanks around. I would ride it after a good check on anything that looks dodgy. Steel cotterless cranks are unusual and good to have on there. A good puller is only $15 to remove the cranks. Grease the wheel bearings with bike grease. Replace the brake pads and cables. That pie-disk is awesome and the rear derailer guard is cool. Ride with pride.
