i usually use one of those plastic razor blades

I use a razor blade for the leftover bar tape and then acetone for the adhesive residue.

Soak it in alcohol the with a razor scrape it off.

Plastic scraper. You donโt have to get it perfect. Youโre going to cover it up. Do wash it in a bit of dish soap before you rewrap it to get any salt off from sweat.

Was hoping to find a silver bullet in the comments here. Hate this stuff, but yea all Iโve found is the same: a lot of elbow grease, isopropyl, goo gone and razor blades

Lacquer thinner soaked rags and a box knife for scraping off the foam and glue.
Be sure to wear protective gloves and a respirator for the fumes of the lacquer thinner.

Ive noticed this happens most often to me when I try to pull the tape too fast, but pulling tight and slowing peeling back the tape while tedious really cuts down on this.
