[Music] [Applause] this year at stampex I partnered with the philatelic traded Society the PTS to produce a lot of content from the show your time starts now [Music] go these are videos talking to the various attendees discussing stamps and covers with dealers they even gave me the opportunity to check out Freddy Mercury’s collection at the postal Museum but for this video I thought let’s just go meet some of the dealers have some discussions with them and check out some of the sites giving you all a glimpse of stampex 20 23 so let’s check it out oh my goodness right so stex this year we have been so so busy we’ve got over 70 pts members here um they are on the mezzanine we’ve got dealers auction houses loads of cool things happening over there um we’ve had a whole host of society meetings so this year instead of just having Society meetings on one day we actually had Society meetings across the four days so they had been held in the society meeting room space just over to my right um in front of that we were um delighted to have the Royal philatelic Society London here um they’ve got loads of Co things happening on stand in the stampex auditorium we’ve had a whole host of um stampex talks this afternoon actually we are celebrating World postcard day which is really really exciting and we have uh one of the biggest post Crossing meetups um so we will be doing that um and then also we have had stamp active here all week and we’ve had lots and lots of schools join us throughout the week um you might have seen the kids running around it’s been really quite cute um as well as a stampex bug hunt this afternoon we are also hosting a stamp active youth auction which is so so so brilliant and gives the kids a chance to actually take part in a real life auction for free which is um yeah super cool oh my goodness I could keep talking gr there’s so much on so why don’t we let’s go then look around cool let’s do it let’s do it [Music] cool we are standing right next to stny given now they join us every year they always take a really brilliant space and to have a great dedicated stand now a few years ago they actually bought the world’s most expensive and rarest stamp and really excitingly they have brought it to stampex so it’s been here all week so for 4 days visitors have been able to come and join us and queue up and basically see the stamp and it’s super super super cool so this stamp is worth over8 million which is really phenomenal and it’s been here with us 24-hour security slightly stressful um and we’ve had cues every single day so it’s been really really cool and it’s right here I think one of the cooler things though Isabelle is that it’s been featured in the media right and um you actually had your face in the what online Times newspaper with the stamp early morning at King’s cross and I’m meeting up with Isabelle we’re going to go somewhere special today right yeah we are but uh before we do that you found out your faces where show it in the Times online that’s onine oh let’s see that’s my face there’s Isabelle’s face with the one set more importantly that is the one set magent the ‘s online this morning this is epic all right I’m with a celebrity everybody all right I’ll be spotted soon you’ll spoted soon I feel honored to be with you all right oh yes yes so uh we have some photographers come down on Wednesday and yes um the next morning I found my face and the one set magenta more important importantly in the times which is yeah one of the UK’s National newspapers which was [Music] [Music] great so grae we are at the um clock end of the mezanine here and this is our tabletop Zone and we just have dealers packed in here and what’s really really cool about this area is people can come and sit and just um search through lots of boxes of great great uh stamp postal history gems um we’ve got brilliant dealers here we’ve got U First stamps Edmunds and Turner fangles um Steven T Taylor so it’s a great place to just come and basically it’s one of those places where you basically can sit down and spend the whole day 15 and get lost yeah it is it is it’s really great [Music] yeah this is paer from thematics thematics I understand this is one of the stands to come to if you’re a topical collector absolutely absolutely so tell me a bit about thematics right okay um thematics was formed about 12 years ago to take over when thematic the demise of the theaa show in London so we carried it on as a thematic show but we weren’t allowed to use the old name so we had to come come up with one of our own people know us for as being thematics now you say there’s there’s not too many thematic dealers is that right there AR here there’s ourselves and David okay so I don’t know of anybody else in this show that’s actually selling thematic stamps so if you want themes you come to us any um so you’ve had a lot of people come to this booth in the last 3 4 days right is there any themes that pick your curiosity that um we we sell a lot of birds I’ve just sold an awful lot of aircraft and helicopters so yeah I mean you name a theme people collected anything um unusual this time uh not this time but we’ve been asked for or safety pins barbed wire you name it people can come up with a thing so it’s fun yeah no I mean I’m a I’m a I’m a theme collector of rhinos and crickets so I’ll have to stop by in a little bit see what you got but um is there a website that you have we have an online shop so everything that you see here is also available online www. shop. account stamps. co.uk so you can search by theme or by country so whichever way you do it you should be able to find something all right terrific well I’ll be stopping by again to get some look for your through your rhino and Cricket stamp so um I’ll see you in a little bit you’re very welcome great chatting thank [Music] you hi I’m Chris Green I’m a stamp dealer from Ottawa Canada I have a retail Stamp shop back in Ottawa and it’s first time here at stampex in London I’ve collected since I was a kid um got into it as a lot of kids did it’s because of a father who brought things home from work and played around soaking worldwide stamps off but I’ve been a dealer now full-time for just about 10 years oh fantastic and what do you specialize in as a dealer I specialize in Canada and British North America of course but I do carry a worldwide stock I try to pick up some of the more weird and wonderful and a little esoteric sort of things that come my this is my first time at stampex though I’ve come to stampex for a number of years it’s my first time with a stand um but I’ve attended a number of shows across Canada in the United States I typically take a stand at a lot of Canadian shows nationally and have started going to a couple in the United States hopefully as a stand holder in the coming year as well so the show so far has been fantastic I’ve been very happy to meet some new clients new collectors and and see some familiar faces too from previous years but as a stand holder it’s been a great first first show The First Time actually that we did a print catalog with some highlights from our inventory was for kex last year in Toronto so we thought we it’s about a year ago now so I thought it was about time to do another one and uh so we’ve just here done a selection of highlights from our inventory Canada BNA and worldwide material again with hopefully a focus on something a little different a little more unusual we um we start off of course we have a good number of Canadian covers proofs essays we also have a good number of Germany we get into some autographs and then I said we like some of the little more esoteric things so if you’ve ever wanted to own a cover advertising taxidermy courses by mail now is your chance to do it what now that’s an odd item isn’t it there’s all sort it’s I like odd items I like the unusual pieces so if I can find them and pick them up I like all right so if you’re interested in odd items and anything else that’s what Canadian fatly North American yeah postal history we uh we try to carry a bit of an interesting stock from all over the world you can find us online of course at Chris green.cc if you happen to be in Ottawa please come visit us at our retail store we’d really be delighted to see you as well um so all terrific it was great seeing you again Chris great thanks so much gra enjoy rest of show [Music] Cheers it started in 1908 it was established then it was involved in the first St fix 1956 and this is uh my personal it’s my 10th time here so it’s it’s uh yeah it’s been a big part of the show for many years I’m Austin Carol from classic St and hi my name is Gordon car also from the glas St so it’s an actual brick and mortar store right are there a lot of brick and mortar stamp stores in that area or no isn’t probably over the last 20 30 years there’s been a bit of a decline in terms of actual you know stamp shops as such um very little still remain but are one of the remaining to well we’ve got a fascinating new product which is this book launch um which was designed by myself just some input and help obviously but we thought it’s a fascinating product for to have its initial launch here and it’s basically what it says in the 10 it is the world’s first a posty stamps and it comes with a nice little I’ll give you an idea of the book so it’s like this uh F of information then you there’s a mint Penny Black in there and it goes on just through the blues so it’s very nice new there’s nothing else like it on the market yet so it’s a bit of a Personal Touch where we can actually you know put in the the world’s uh first three four uh posty stamps with you know a potential uh customers initials Source initials using the corner L us it comes so you buy the stamps and the book comes free that’s fantastic so we do that way so you buy those first three stamps those and you get the book and you get the book for free yeah and you don’t just have this in English not just English no no pretty much any language you want there’s a for example French one well sorry this is a different one this is a a different product there’s two books okay so that’s the Ro’s first three stamps four stamps actually it’s in there this is the 12 flates of the P black 11 PL but you know plate one a and plate one B so all 11 plates would be in here all 12 versions what that’ be amazing so it’s very attractive book when it’s when it’s full yeah so that’s that’s the other product so we just thought stampex this year is the time for the launch and to get this out in the marketplace that’s fabulous so how can I learn more about the Glasco uh Stamp shop where do I you can find us on the website it’s the GL shop uh Facebook um and Instagram as well terrific I have to give you guys a follow please all right well it’s been a pleasure talking to you both and you and thank you so much and I’ll see you around stex yes thank you thanks so much have a good [Music] day here we go this is the Royal felic Society London booth and I Spy the recent video that we filmed over at their building there’s Nicola that’s very cool they have it playing on repeat so that’s uh that’s a lot of [Music] fun as I started as a dealer I will now I think it’s my 25th or even 30th year that I’m coming to stand P wow wait a second you have a problem here is that four yeah I got this on camera too so this is good it shows you you’re working hard at stamp piig it only has to keep for three minutes um my name is France fedra I’m the founder of filler search or co-founder of filler search and filler search is a internet portal with hundreds of auction houses and shops uh which shows their material and one of the difference to all other portals if you go to an area like uh GB number one black Penny you see every item the item if it’s is in a in a shop in an auction uh so the target is that the collector goes for the item not for the company the website it is wwww filler search.com then choose their area and hopefully find something which fits to their collection and you can create an account is it free to create an account the usage is totally free you only have to even the searching is free you only have to register if you want to order something or if you want to store your search because you have the possib to store your search and then you get once a week a message from filler search if something new for your interest area like we will do one for you for Cricket oh fantastic I like that all right thank you and rhinos if we do one for rhino rhino okay it’s also fine it’s also easy okay all right I’ll be checking out for this search I appreciate this very much thank you for giving us an intro okay thank you to having you here Isabelle you don’t actually have to introduce me I know to to Brian here Brian from BB stamps hi this is one of my favorite booths to come visit while I’m at stamp pick pick up some wonderful Penny blacks um Brian can you tell me a bit about BB stamps uh I started well I started in 1977 when I was 11 years old um just messing about with some stamps that my father had tapped away started the business in 1986 part-time fulltime in 1988 and just basically worked my way through since then to what you see now what does BB stamps specialize in just Great Britain we just do Great Britain 1840 to date you know we do everything as you say from Penny blacks all the way through to new issues as it comes out from the post office um our customers I think like that service that they can go from A to B you know from start to finish with us you know we’re very easy to find online the website’s super easy to use um you know there’s 20 odd, thousand customers that use it and you know it works well cool what’s up website it’s BB stamps. co.uk gr and wasn’t this the place that you bought Laura the surprise um stamp with her initials on it I think BB stamps offer that in a really cool way right you we can we can frame it anywh you like really yeah different colors um you know all the penny blacks you can just do your initials if it’s possible AA all the way through to TL um yeah we you know we’ve got thousands in stock all the time cool including LV which over there there’s the camera man that one’s for her yeah so she’s got a penny black yes yeah yeah from here abely yeah yeah from us yes terrific this is this is our new list that we just published last week you know we do two of these a year people that you know buy from Us online you’ll automatically get it through the post but most people use the website you know the website’s up to date all the time as up to date as possible and I say it’s very easy to use terrific well it’s always a pleasure talking to Brian and I’ll probably be stopping by picking up some more stamps in a bit thank thank you so I appreciate it thanks a lot see you soon take care this video was made in partnership with a philatelic Traders Society the pts a society protecting the philatelic trade since 1929 in which his reputation for honesty integrity and professionalism spans the globe collectors purchasing from dealers must look for the pts Shield to make sure their purchases come from a reputable pts dealer to learn more and look through the dealer directory or even apply to have your stamp store join the PT PS go to the ps.net more videos to come so stay tuned as always thank you for watching and happy [Music] exploring

  1. I loved it Graham, even saw a familiar face passing by 🤗
A very good overal overview of the show, and I noticed that despite being there all days, I missed a few things.
Well, that is for next year then.

Looking forward to part 2,3,4,5 …..

  2. Thrilled that the Glasgow stamp shop was featured! I got to visit the store when I was in Glasgow last summer and they were extremely friendly folks. 💖 (And as I'm from Canada, I now know to check out Chris Green!)

  3. Thanks again, great content! You keep managing to help me keep my passion for stamps when I see there are events like these that still exist as there are still many out there enjoying stamps!

  4. Really looking forward to these episodes. Love checking out these shops online. Well rather in real but my life won’t let me. Unfortunately I cannot visit the website of The Glasgow Stamp Shop. Anyway, thanks for the video Graham!

  5. Great vid! I had an amazing time at Stampex this year, and really enjoyed talking with you and Todd about philately on the internet in general in the social media surgery. I'd have chatted more but you looked rather busy, with lots of content to make.

Besides, I could only be there for 1 full day, and had a hell of a lot to do myself (see: scour the place for stuff for my thematic collections, write out and post cards from Stampex for exchanges, and then have enough energy to go to the postal museum the next morning). Met up with a load of my friends that night down the pub in Charing Cross and naturally showed them a picture of the 1c Magenta behind its reinforced glass. Should have seen their faces when I mentioned it's worth £8,000,000 or so!

  6. Great Video. It’s been awhile but well worth it. Looking forward to seeing more of Stampex 2023 . Glad to see your other half there as well. For those who can’t get to stamp shows like this is great. Keep up the great work and service to the Philatelic community. Happy Collecting

  7. Great video Graham. It looks like it was a fantastic stamp show. I am attending the Royal Philatelic Society of Canada 's ROYAL 2023 in London, Ontario this weekend, but with 30 dealers it is certainly not as big as Stampex 2023.

  8. It looks fun to go to a lot of information. My stamps are in storage at the moment. Sold our house and traveling around 🇭🇲 in a 4wd and camper van. Still love to look for stamps still love watching the videos 👍👍👍🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺😎

  9. Hi Graham, nice overview of the exhibition. I knew Philasearch and this is a great portal, I used it several times in the past. It´s not perfect, because you can not exclude certain auction houses, but overall a great source especially to get more seldom material. I´m impressed that all dealers you presented are supporting this event for so many years. On the other side it was a bit empty. When I visit for example in Munich in spring the major event, it is more crowded. I will look on the website of BB Stamps (still need a nice 2 Penny blue) and also have a look on the Canadian dealer. Both looked very interesting. Thank you for reporting from Stampex.

  10. Hi Graham, another excellent video, bringing us to Stampex. Visiting Stampex made it to my bucket list, and so did meeting you and Laura. I am a proper groupie now, I think. 🙃😊😛Back to your video – you really manage to take us with you to feel as if one visits the show oneself. I cannot imagine that you get time to yourself. I gathered you gave a talk? I hope it will be available somewhere. Best regards here from Kiwi-land. 🥝

  11. I took the opportunity today to rewatch this episode and I am enchanted by the organization and beauty of the event, the union of the philatelic community warms my heart, when I think I have seen it all a taxidermy envelope appears, the postage stamp is a fabulous world.

  12. I love that you showed a penny black with LB as the corner letters, because those are my initials as well. I collect GB as one of my main areas, and at the front of my collection are two full pages of Queen Victoria stamps with LB, including a penny black! I wish I could have attended this show
