So I am overhauling a bike and this pedal doesn’t spin freely, just moves with resistance.
I think I need to grease it inside but can’t get access to it. The inboard spindle fits a 6mm hex and seems to be a screw prortruding on outboard side. I’ve been trying to open it by immobilising with a pedal wrench and using a hex key but no dice.
Trying PB blaster next, but wondering if this is even meant to open/be servicable? TY!

Pedals are cheap especially this type, just get some new ones.
Probably not a concern if you want to ride them for a bit, but it is much much easier to replace them then to service it. I’d recommend some proper platforms (either resin or aluminum) since they will be around the same price and will last a little longer than these ones, as well as be more comfortable.
The outboard hexhead bolt doesn’t look right. It might be camera angle though. If you can get an allen on it and turn the axel it might come out. They do look alittle cheap and the cheaper they are the less serviceable they are. Replacements likely cost the same as service unless you work for free. It sucks that everything cant be easily served but cost rules everything around us unfortunately.
