I'm surprised I have to replace this part so soon. Canyon spare part # GP7172-01 isn't available in the US and I wouldn't want the same OEM quality part anyway. Aire Velo Bearings sells a stainless steel replacement that I'm hoping will last longer. I store my bike indoors. I don't wash it aggressively (no spray hose.) I have been caught in the rain a couple times but the same could be said for my other bikes which don't exhibit this type of issue. I'm curious if the Enduro bearings are any better but they are out of stock – https://www.airevelobearings.com/product/canyon-endurace-cf-slx-ultimate-cf-slx-aeroad-cf-slx-headset-bearings-from-aire-velo-is44-is44-gp7172-01/ – stainless steel 🤞 Anyone else had success with these?

I have multiple bikes in my care and I’d say most bikes that ride in the rain have their headsets looking like this. That’s not a canyon/acros specific problem. BTW the acros headsets are stainless aswell but excessive water will cause surface rust on any bearing. Get enough grease in there to prevent the water from entering and make sure the dust cap sits flush.

If you replace the bearings, please remember that there are two different ones. One of the bearings has a different phase or angle.
