I didn't know it and traveled for 5 days with a 10L Saddlebag on my Canyon Grizl and destroyed my Carbon Seatpost. You also see damage inside.
I always tightened the seat post with the torque specified by Canyon (6nm)
Wrap with silicon tape first. I use Extreme Tape. Same thing I use for a chain guard.

I have a little piece of “soft feet” for the underside of kitchen furniture, stuck to my saddlebag at the contact point.

Can I ask you about the ride a little? Iv been debating getting a grizl, but am torn between the CF vs AL. Iv been leaning towards getting the CF due to reading that it is a more compliant/ comfortable ride vs the AL. This would be my first CF bike.
The AL however is cheeper, in stock currently in my size, and has mounts for a rear rack.
Im really planing on using this as an extremely comfortable road bike, and sometimes I’ll take it on gravel. I would love to go bike packing with it as well, but it’s not something Iv ever done before. The rear rack sounds like it would be helpful but I’m not so sure how much I’ll use it.

Just throwing it out there with carbon seatposts (or bars, etc).
I’ve read to try and go under torque specs bc most of the time you’re fine, 6nm seems higher than most. Obviously it should be fine since it’s their spec, but 3-5 is usually what I see, so I hit about 4 and I’m good. Especially if you use some carbon grip paste, things won’t move… If they do, tighten more.

Carbon frame + bags + gravel = constant check of contact points. Carbon is not really durable material in general. It is strong but not durable. 3M clear tape for cars and you should be okay.

I am willing to bet great money this has absolutely nothing to do with your saddlebag; you overtightened your seatpost clamp.

100kg rider with a super long saddle bag acting as an extra lever plus a not so well fitting seatpost and a less than ideal clamping. It would have been worse if you had more seatpost showing. The grippy carbon paste is just as abrasive as it is grippy. With the seatpost moving around under 110+kg it happily carved itself away.
I’d just get a really long aluminum post and hope for a tight fit. It probably would have happened without the bag, too. There really isn’t a torque specification that is technically necessary. A seatpost the does not slip is torqued well enough. If 4Nm is enough 6Nm is not better.
