One time the chain jumped out of the pulley and I still pedalled a bit which was what damaged the pulley and scratched the cage a bit. Chain doesn’t have any obvious damage but I’m still thinking I should order new pulleys and chain.
Chain jumps, but also stops doing it for a while sometimes. Stays on the same gear. One pulley is damaged and is not spinning as freely, could that be the culprit?

Yes, fix your pully then follow an adjustment guide.
Measure your chain stretch before getting your pulley so you know if you need a chain as well. Or bring your bike to a bike shop so it’s a single trip. So they can measure your chain stretch. Changing a chain on time can save you hundreds of dollars vs running it into the ground.
