I thought my face took most of the damage as there was only a small scuff on the outside, and I’m covered in road rash. But aftera proper look at it this morning, I found the helmet as an crack all the way through the foam where the impact was. much better than than my skull.

Your first major crash—and hopefully your *last.*. I’ve lost a couple of helmets that way. Acquired helmet injury absolutely beats acquired brain injury.

It sacrificed itself to save you. It did its job and now it’s time for the helmet to rest in pieces and go to helmet heaven.

True, it’s better to wear helmet and do not crash, than crash without helmet (based on other people experience)

I wish they made more road bike oriented full face helmets.
Years ago I worked in a nursing home that had a few younger residents with closed head injuries.
Have always worn a helmet since
