I found a Giant Trace 29 2 at 60% off list price from a reputable bike shop and confirmed that it is brand new condition. The issue is I was only looking for a hardtail at around £900 but I am extremely tempted to stretch to £1300 for a full sus that retails at £3300.

I can afford it but it feels a bit wasteful to spend money on more bike than I need (that is according to my wife). But does anyone else agree that sometimes we should be willing to stretch our original budget if we find a compelling deal?

You clearly want it, this is a conversation to decide with your wife, not us.

Yes, you should stretch your budget. There is nothing wrong with it if you can afford it.

Just go for it, that’s a great deal and the other person who mentioned that you should factor the price of the dropper post in is correct, as they’re really worth it, so that brings the prices 100 closer. It’s definitely worth it imo
