looking for a cool vintage road bike to get me around new york. this one is selling for $500 at my local shop. it’s pretty steep BUT it is set up exactly what i’ve been looking for: raiser bars, thicker tires, lightweight, and super comfy to ride (i test rode it). i don’t mind the down tube shifters.
is it cool? is it cheap? is there desirability?

Beautiful bike. 500 does seem a bit steep, but I imagine there’s a premium on vintage bikes in NYC.
That seems like a lot of money for a bike with high-tensile fork and stays and chipped up paint, but I admit I spend a lot of time on FB Marketplace looking at bikes that aren’t ready to ride and haven’t been serviced in decades, so my perspective may be skewed.
