I might pull the trigger on the new Grail, I only have 24 hours left to make up my mind but the CF SL 7 AXS looks real good right now.
I'm looking for advice on which size to pick, the website's tool is saying S and M are ok. I'm 181cm tall with a 85,5cm inseam.
I modeled both the Small and the Medium on bike geometry calculator, shadowed by my current bike and setup and both seem to align somewhat. The Small is almost the same frame geometry as my Marin Gestalt 2.5, but the cockpit would be lower and the stem shorter. With the Medium, the reach fit is almost the same as on my current bike.
On a first look I could go for the Medium as it fits my current setup, but the thing is, I'm not 100% comfy on it. After 2 to 3 hours on the bike, I often feel some tension in my trapezius. I have the feeling that I would be better off with a touch less reach. Also, I really don't think having a 44cm handlebar is a good idea as my shoulders mesure between 38 and 40.
So, I am wrong in thinking that I could go with the Small, maybe use the money saved on the sale to also buy a 80/400 cockpit, and that it would give me a more confortable position than the one I currently have ? It would also be easier to adjust the stem length on a small for something a bit longer if needed than it would be to shorten an already super short one on the medium…
What do you think about all my ramblings ?
