Just to get out of my neighborhood in Montreal I ride by a half dozen of them.
Stark reminder for cyclists but I fear they’re often fully ignored by pedestrians and drivers.

Death. They come from death.

They’re an American thing? i remember they used to have them in the UK. Always at junctions.

They’re memorials marking where a motorist murdered a cyclist.
You’ll find a number of them around the Greater Montreal area. It was a big deal (among cyclists at least) when the ghost bike on St-Denis and Rosemont was ceremonially removed with the opening of the REV. Its much safer now.
