I love my bike (2022 giant revolt 2), but those breaks are so awful. What are my options if I want hydraulic? (I don’t want to sell the bike and get a new one)
If I want to save some money and put 105 hydraulic brakes, is that a stupid ignorant decision?

I’d consider cable actuated hydraulic brakes, apparently they’re already significantly better than cable brakes, and a whole lotta cheaper. Otherwise you’d need to replace the brifters, calipers and cabling, which might be worth it yeah. But if you go with 105 brifters (11 speed), you’d have to swap the casette and rear derailleur and probably also the crankset for 11 speed. I’m not sure if you can use 11 speed brifters with 9 speed derailleur.
If you do go swapping the entire drivetrain, consider GRX instead of 105.
“So awful”… What exactly is awful about the TRP?
I have those and once setup properly they brake enough for me. I’m not super heavy really…75kg.
Make sure they are setup properly. Use the “pad in” screw to get the pad exactly right.
Growtac’s or Paul’s if you want to stay mech.
I have Hy/Rd’s that I also like, but they came with the bike.

Adjustments or cleaning pada and rotor or changing pads. I love KoolStop pads for rim brakes. See if they make some that will fit.
