good morning good afternoon good evening good night depending on when you’re watching this thank you very much for the people at the for giving me this opportunity to I guess show you a bit of my skill work as to demonstrating what I can do mechanically minded I suppose the best way to put it as you can see up here on the S I have bicycle my bicycle personally and the current problem is we have two ra flat tires and no chain so hopefully by the end of this that problem will be resolved now uh stand the C on bike I’ve had this for a little while now uh these are 27 and A2 inch wheels very given this a mountain bike that makes it far of a good G Terin here we have front standard single desk nothing too fancy we got a tire leers which are all the way useful and we shall make a start as to getting this tire off it RI for well I suppose fortunately in most cases they do not make these things very easy to remove but if you’re say hitting the trails or doing some big air jumps stuff along those lines the last thing you really want is your tire coming off so there we go so as you can see we’ve got one tire lever still in and we have just removed the bead from the rim itself Le in part once it’s partway out it’s fairly simple just to run your fingers along the inside and there we go we now have half the tire on this side of the tire bead away from the rim inside we find ah the cause of the problems one rather flatten the tube this is the original surprisingly but alas while I could go and try and find the hole repair it reuse this in a tube alas time constraints and the fact that I don’t have a repair kit with may your Le to hand we should be doing such things now into half very and we have two 27 and2 in shrer valve inner tubes which should fit no reason why it shouldn’t if it doesn’t blame mouth it’s not me we do doing pretty much the same procedure on the back tire you can see there’s our nice fresh inner tube very nice very nice again as I said these are Sher valves on here so you have a standard fitting or like a press the valve which you can allow air out of but that’s going into the semantics and the pedantics of all of it there is a time and place for those that unfortunately is not now now what I am going to do first actually is just put a little bit of air into the cat because it is a bit uh BL nothing too fancy just a standard foot pump normally I keep it in my car but times and situations called for different measures now the recommended pressure from these tires or for these specific tires here is 1.8 bar so nearly two atmospheres with the pressure you can see just there I’m not sure how clear sh on the camera unfortunately which the recommended pressure and these SES specifically up here come with a gradient of how much weight you put into your tires you should alter how much air you’ve got in there so between two and three ball or 2945 PSI so I am a slightly uh bigger person so when I pump these up I will be putting in a bit more air probably closer towards the three bar bu don’t want too much in here I’m giving it through pumps seems sensible but as you can see it’s a little bit more shapy makes it a bit easier getting it actually into the rim our Rim we have our valve which corresponds here in the hole please we’ll make it work I’m just going to tuck the tire inside of or the inner tube into the inside of the tire like so this just means it’s in inside it’s in the rim it’s in the tire itself it’s inside the rim and when we go to put the rim or the bead back in the rim it should famous words stay there now I would have liked to show you kind folks on the other end of the screen uh me working on the alternator of my 1972 Volkswagen beat fortunate because I have a slipping belt unfortunately time and TI were standing that has not been able to occur deep apologize for that CU I would have liked show but ultimately looking at the job I don’t think it would have been 15 minutes overall and I’m not je for all change for any while yet so there is also that right inner tube is now all the way inside the tire we still have our little straight our little press the valve which is there she be now we’ve got to try and get the bead back onto the rib which honestly that’s the easy part over this all you do is you take your tire lever you run it along the inside of the rim like so and as it goes around it pushes the bead back onto the tire weever designed these absolute genius I had more you never know I might put in who designed these in in while I’m doing this it may show over the top of the screen who knows I don’t know what future me is going to do yet that’s to be decided all standard now we’ve got most of the bead back onto the room now we’ve got the final section just here now this always tends to be the most pain in the rear end bit because you’ve got to try and get the last little bit of the bead back over and it is nine times out of 10 and real pain in the bottom I won’t be swearing for the sake of YouTube demonetization because everyone loves that nowadays the fact that it’s rather unprofessional I have to say come on little Tire on you go nearly and there we go the bead is now entirely back on the rim fund let’s the Germans say so the next step after I realign this reflector which is St a little bit unfortunate or not we’ll ignore that let’s get some air in here as I said before I’m a slightly uh beefier lad so we’ll be putting in up to well ritten off here 100 kilos should be somewhere around I’d say give split into four about call it PSI per bar I’d say we’re around about 40 PSI here so I’ll put a smidge more maybe 41 just to bit for Prosperity SP sake and for the fact that I’m P I’m pedantic that and then we’ll get it back in we’ll knock the rear tire out repeat the process and then I will move on to fitting the chain this is an 8-speed bike three up front eight rear I’ve got an8 spe chain linkage in there and the pliers so hopefully we should be able to get it back on fairly quickly then we’ll go quickly round make sure that everything’s working breaks anything on those lines brakes make sure we’re shifting okay with the new chain on make sure it’s stopping maybe have a quick look at the forks and then we’ll go from there and I believe that will probably be the end of this video unfortunately but that is for future me have about 10 minutes to deal with oh yes pumping up tires the most interesting thing a person can do how’s everyone’s stay then good bad got beautiful sunset here unfortunately you guys can’t see cuz it’s over there but it is rather nice uh if anyone gets bored why not put it in the comments because that’s what everyone seems to say nowadays okay we are just over 40 PSI oh no 30 I’m an idiot right over 30 PSI now so we’ll give a bit more there [Music] 40 we a little bit over 40 PSI I’m not sure how well you’ll be able to see that on the camera but we’re a little bit over the fact we probably get a little bit of leak when we take this off I think that’s more than appropriate yep got our dust cap and there we have one tire all nice and changed and doesn’t explode even better right as I said before these have a quick R style system and this breaks as well so got to make sure I get everything L up what so for anyone who watching this Su isn’t from daf or and is curious honestly getting one of these bicycle stands is probably one of the best things you can do it just means you’re not trying to work Lent over your bike or TR R find some of to lean it up because it just hold it in place you got plenty of adjustability up here in the top in terms of way got the frame rotation angle it’s wonderful I would very much recommend getting one if you can right moving on to the rear tire sameish same process as the front we have a quick fairly quick release pin he says as he fails to get the cpto release pin open then again probably wouldn’t be that good if it were loose vi just way and there we go one rear tie again same process as we did with the front get the tire levers in we will un get get the bead out from the rim change put could be VAR in the new inner tube change it over and then pump it the rest of the way up once it is back in its holder there we go to pass time the video I was planning on doing for this which unfortunately I have not been able to was as I said for my 1972 Volkswagen Beetle has a slipping alternate B and for those I guess who maybe watching this who or watching this who are maybe more inclined to learn not just about the subject that’s being covered uh your standard alternator when you need to adjust it say your Bel is getting a bit loose like mine was the alternator itself generally has a pivot point and then you adjust your up and down tightens and loosens the belt depending on where you need it however my Volkswagen when I bought before I bought it there’s our second energy by the way was converted from a 6vt system with a Dynamo those of you are a bit younger that’s a very rudimentary alternator helps generate power and charge the battery but they switch the kind people for me switched over to a 12vt alternate system however back in the 70s they when they designed this they did not intend for that to be much in the way of alternator travel shall we say so it actually has a fit Mountain on top of the engine obviously in a Volkswagen be it is a flat 4 boxer so your Pistons go like that but they’re generally quite low in the engine everything above it carburetor your alternator Dynamo anything else all your uh air transfer make sure you’re getting a engine and all that your HT leads your spark plugs All That Jazz but they didn’t really have much in the way of alternator travel because it was fix Point what they did have however is the actual pulley on the alternator you could adjust so you had several washers which went the pulley split in two like this so you had the front of the pulley that pulled away you had several washers in there and then the rear of the pulley and what you did when you wanted to adjust it was You’ take off the front of the of the alternated pulley then you would adjust you’d add or take away uh the little grommets the little washers till you got to your appropriate tightness that you wanted then you put the alternator back on or the front of the alternator P it back on then you turn it all up and off you go unfortunately when I was looking at this the other day it’s not just the grommets that I need or the washes I need it is actually an new alternat and trying to get one on short notice when I was all of last week hence the video being done now it is uh Wednesday evening oops uh yes so I getting a new belt on short notice wasn’t exactly in the book on the books so we’re doing this instead even so I really don’t think it would have been a 5 minute job or 15-minute job to do but you know better a h TI everything works out the way you wanted to but that’s the way of life uh okay the inner tube is back in the beat we back in the tire and as far as the front so I should quickly get and just around get I’ll be back on now if you’ve been around on the internet a little while or you watch like these Bushcraft videos you may see or even Top Gear way back when uh when they the public special that sometimes when you have a where it’s come off the rim the beads come off the rim what that you’ll see them do is put in some kind of aerosol into the tire and then basically throw a match at it so it ignites and blows the tire out that’s generally when your beads come off on the inside so what that would do is the pressure caused by the fireball on the inside pushes the push the tire back out the bead back onto the tire and probably reinflates it as well which is S easy when you’ve got a very big very heavy piece of Machinery which you need to chy to get the be back off speaking of we now have re Beed Tire woo so what we’re going to do now is once again going to give it some air we’re going to go up to 41 PSI like of prosperity just because as before I’mma beat the boy yes the previous video on the alternator wouldn’t have been that long and all i’ else have to show for it is some change HT leads some new spark plugs in fact I’ve changed you all before which incidentally is not what you how you think be done normal engines have just like a little drain plug in them this you have like a drain cover with like six volts or so which makes sense because of course it’s an AO engine Fel doesn’t just provide lubrication it also provides cooling L and some interior trim panels that I’ve replaced okay that is second Tire all nice and done the ultimate test will explode it did not which is always a bonus where did I put that D Cap all right we now have two tires do TI which I’ve been in changed rep pumped or old inter removed rep pumped and are good for Action once more I am going and backwards because I am a melon there we go the one problem with these STS I will say is when you tring to do something akin to this trying to put the tire back in they do kind of subtract from what is you trying to do because I make ity admittedly you got to try and support the wheel with your knes that not bad we might have a little bit of play on the rear brake nothing that can’t be adjusted out though so now we have two Rush tires really on set so I’m not sure how this is going to work third and final thing we have to do or I have to do myself is I have a nice fresh M look the best still twisted up but I promise you it is fresh eight speed gear linkage change gear linkage change very nice very shiny bit greasy go we have in the Box down there the connectors for it I’m going to try and do it partly from this side so the people watching at home can actually see what it is I am doing so what I’m going to do first is just feed it through just slowly through the first going to use the gears to helpes now on third ring majority of the way through just so you know when things don’t go to plan you when you expect them to yeah it’s one of those days it’s been a long day been laying concrete it’s a it’s a long story but it’s one that I shall not get into here unfortunately as much as I’m sure whoever it is viewing this may or may not want to see it’s not like I’m going making a second video on this so I’ll leave it up to your imagination as to what I was doing right one thing I am going to do real quick is I’m going to quickly knock it down so we’re now in the first gear in the [Music] back I am very much trying to remember how to do this CU this is my first time Chang in a TR but you know learn on the job that’s what this apprentiship is about you learn you make some money everyone’s laughing everyone’s singing uh kids are singing in the streets they’re praising your name you know oh that kind of good stuff ah it’s all fun games it’s really yes how was everyone doing today then we all bright and dandy all like good days my’s been pretty good been laying some concrete right am my go go this I love it when things don’t start going the way you expect them to oh it’s all fun of games really honestly it is I’m learning on the job you know things don’t always work out the way you expected to if stay did life will be boring am I right I hope I am I do not know the first and second time the people watching this video who knows life could be boring life could be absolutely trous you could have a really bad family life have a great one who am I to judge ultimately your life is what you make of it so who a bit of slack no no I’m going to go and consult the oracle the Oracle has been consulted and by the Oracle I mean my dad’s push bike he is all rest in peace wherever he is but we’re not a to that that’s my person not divulging that at least not yet butd to continue this on who knows maybe we’ll see right now though that’s not the priority the priority is getting this sword so you L stop watching go to bed or I can go and have some food yeah because you know you love great I believe he may just be getting somewhere ho ho I have to open my mouth my viewers had to open my poor old mouth okay CH there this comes up and around dear viewer I believe we’ve nearly got it sorted all I need to do now put the pin in through slightly so I don’t lose miles chain okay final thing to do now is to take I’ve got a split set of chain links here not sure how you’ll be able to see them but these interlock together as you would most likely expect but they go through the other parts of the chain and Link them both together so two ends become V I don’t know why I went apologies for anyone who watching I know I am an idiot there I do believe kind viewers got a little bit of slack in the system on the back pedal but nothing too major I do believe I’m just going to bring you over real quick ah okay so as you can see we have a fresh nice chain which comes all the way over the back sprockets comes down here goes through this back over the main ring up here and then all of a sudden we have a working chain we also have two nice fresh inner tubes I am while I’m here going to adjust this brake bias just a a little bit it’s a little bit out you can hear it rubbing just a little bit nothing too major but it’s just a little bit of an irritation so we’ll give it a quick adjustment quick run through the gears as well and then we should be sorted so I’m just going to go and plunk you hello back over here so break adjustment there’s not really much to it that you have up here obviously your brake lever this A J and you might be able to see down there it’s pulling on the rear all I’m going to do is just it off and smid in a little bit nothing too crazy just enough so it’s got a little bit more slack in the cable than what it had still a little bit of a binding there not much just a little bit of okay it’s not too bad still got a little bit of resistance in that which really I’d like to dial out if possible but to be perfectly honest this video I think has gone long enough it’s starting to get dark no one wants to be watching something get some guy just muu around with his bicycle okay so that’s first ring so that is gear number eight quick run through gear number 16 gear number 24 Quick Check of the front I would say kind G ladies and gentlemen whoever is watching this video whoever is reviewing it I believe we are sorted we have two new Winer tubes a quick break adjustment and a brand new chain on there as well hopefully you find this entertaining appealing I
