Ok, so I want to buy a gravel bike for going on weekend trips, maybe longer bikepacking adventures but also daily use.

I‘m torn between:

Cannondale topstone carbon 3 with grx 820/600 for 2.500€ (I live in Germany)

Or

Canyon Grizl 8 1by GRX RX822 for 2k

I prefer the Topstone colorwise/looks, the canyon might be the better deal though…

any advice? Or other recommendations for the price range?

Since the main difference is 1x vs 2x u should decide what u want more. Personally I would take the canyon over the canondale cause I don’t think there kingpin „suspension“ is worth it.

For others, Cube is a solid brand too. Many shops for testing and repair. Especially in Germany

Personally the canyon, and save the money to upgrade things like tyres when they have worn out, quite a big price difference for not much upgrade on the cannondale imo, though they are both nice bikes!

Besides the 2by gear, what’s wrong with Cannondale? I have a carbon top stone and I love it.

Cannondale if you are planning to go on steeper trails (its easier, since you have better gear ratio thanks to the 2x)
Canyon, if you wont (or rarely)

The Grizl geometry is all but a relaxed weekend bike trip bike.

Don’t know about the Cannondale, but Canyon Gravel bikes do have a rather stretched geometry.

Canyon for value for money see if they list a 2x as an option if you want to go on steeper trails…..

  7. I think there’s a notable anti-cannondale sentiment on this sub so I would take these responses with a grain of salt.

Biggest things I see are the carbon vs aluminum, 1x vs 2x crank, 45mm vs 50mm, and aesthetics.

I have a an older carbon topstone 2x which I love. Very happy with the 2x crank. I’m not sure I really notice the kingpin suspension but also haven’t ridden other gravel bikes.

  8. Real honest here. For that kind of money you can get a second hand bike with way better parts
