In Devon, I’ve been building confidence cycling on hills and on roads – two things I don’t have much practice in. I’m currently visiting Brett in Hamburg, where it is flat and cycle paths are everywhere, so I decided I should try training distance. On a sunny Saturday, we cycled from Lübeck to Lüneburg, following the Old Salt Route (or Alte Salzstraße) that traces the Lübeck-Elbe canal. We ended up cycling over 100 kilometres, one of my furthest cycle rides to date! It was definitely a bit of a struggle, but I’m excited to tackle some more longer distances in the future!
Additional footage thanks to Brett!

[Music] good morning we are currently in Lubec in Northern Germany and hoping to cycle to lunenberg today should be a really nice day it’s very sunny at the moment we’ve got a bit of rain predicted for the afternoon um so we’re just keeping our fingers crossed that we can get to Lunenburg before it starts raining um and we’re following the old salt path or Old Salt route something like that um so yeah should be a great day [Music] [Music] oh so this is the bike I’ve rented from was a happy bike it’s specialized women’s bike it’s actually the same bike that Brett has but the women’s version but this is the seat and I am not used to this kind of seat so in a little bit of pain but we’ll be [Music] okay it’s not even 10 yet um but it’s already really hot out I’m really glad that I brought kind of a a light layer to keep the sun off the skin um we’re about 10 km out from the next city and we’re going to fill up our water bottles there and then keep on heading south down to lenberg [Music] [Music] it’s a spoon and a straw this is incredible German engineering at its finest [Music] we made it to Lunenburg haven’t checked the straa yet but it was definitely over 100 km um which is a bit tough going at point it’s super beautiful um to see so hopefully we’ll go find some dinner now and then head back to Hamburg [Music] PR [Music]
