  1. Unless you are looking at a BMX bike with knobby tires, it sounds like BS to me.

    I used to wear flat spots on my knobbies doing skid stops with a coaster break as a kid. Doesn’t seem likely in this situation.

    It’s certainly _possible_, but if they brought it to a shop they could have fixed it there in about thirty seconds by unmounting and remounting the tire. Or the seller could easily have fixed it himself. The implication that this didn’t happen pings my BS meter.

    This can be a thing. It’s usually because the tire wasn’t seated properly in the rim after a tube change. Deflating the tire, reseating the tire bead, and reinflating usually fixes the bump. While much rarer, I’ve also seen where a tire can develop a bump in which case you just replace the tire.

    If the underlying cord structure of the tire has failed, then you will see and feel a bump. I had this issue with some Michelin road bike tires a few years ago and the result was a visible ‘s’ like bump on the tire. Good luck!
