I've been training for some more xc oriented races this year so I bought an epic Evo and have been training harder than ever. It generally seems to fit me well, but compared to my trail bike (granted I've never hammered climbs with it the way I do my xc bike), I've noticed a lot of perineal pressure when I'm climbing. Also, I can feel my ischial tuberosities being more forward on the saddle when I'm in an aggressive climbing position. I wear padded shorts for long rides but I don't really have an issue with ischial soreness. Also, I have measured my ischial width and the saddle fits fine when im riding on flat terrain. I have experimented with tilting the saddle forward some but can't really go beyond where I'm at now without slipping forward and overweighting my hands. I have the stock 60mm stem in place but I have a 40mm on the way to experiment with that as well.
- Is this just part of cranking out climbing watts on an xc style bike?
- Do I have room to experiment with moving my saddle forward anymore? I'm not sure if those graduated lines are for the top or bottom part of the saddle clamp.
Thanks for any input!

I would say yes there is room. I also have a channel cut seat for my perineal pressure. I personally use the Ergon saddles and have found they relieve most of not all of the perineal pressure. You could also try a slightly higher rise on your bars as that would make you more upright and might help put less forward pressure on
