I'm 5'10 but the frame is 53cm. Can a better combination of stem and handle bars make it better?
Used to riding wide risers so this one just feels too narrow.
Better in what way? Make it fit better? More upright? More extended/less cramped?
Also I’d say wrap your drops first before you try switching it up

They all gave their advantages and addresses subject to preference.
Wide risers have awesome leverage, but one position.
Drops have more positions, but might feel weird unless you’re riding with brakes.
Bullhorns/pursuit give you a more relaxed posture, but you lose maneuverability. The longest the stem, the bigger the boat.
I have all three setups and switch them out as I please. Street, riding riding, incorrect tackle. Buy used and experiment

Yes. Compact drops. Those droopy bars aren’t comfy and IMO don’t look good. UNO makes some cheap silver ones you can grab from Ali if you want a cheap option. They’re pretty good and you can probably run the same stem if you get the 26mm. also agree with other poster. They’re even better with hoods. I run a front brake and 2 road levers but you can get dummy hoods if you wanna be silly
