I’m in the US and we have many “retirement communities” here, where people have to be 55+ to live in them. In reality, many are quite elderly and this sign would be useful. Have you been able to find out why that sign is there?
I don’t think the sign is supposed to be funny, but to point out that certain (elder) people cross the streets differently
