A rattlesnake tagged me while on the trail! (NSFW audio)

First, don’t judge me too hard for my phone holder cuz I was alone and didn’t know the trails.

Anyways, I was wearing shorts and long compression socks and the snake bit right through it. I coincidentally tagged my shin with my pedal which is why I said ouch. It gave me a nasty gash and the snake bite was right next to it. I didn’t think the snake bit me until I checked it back at my campsite near the trail. This all occurred during the last mile of my 9 mile ride. The trailhead itself is about 3 miles into the forest down a bumpy dirt road and another 20 minutes to the local hospital. So I drove myself there in a strange fuzzy haze. After getting anti-venom they flew me in a helicopter down the mountain to a bigger hospital for any further treatment and observation. It surprisingly healed well and I have no life threatening symptoms… so yeah I guess that’s it. It was a surreal experience, really embarrassing, and highly uncomfortable. Accidents happen, but be as proactive to prevent them if possible.
