Wouldn’t it have just been cheaper / easier to go 46/16?
48/17 is the perfect ratio IMO. Good cruising speed, easy to take off from lights, not brutal uphill. I can run to the grocery store quick or go out for 30 miles no issue, it’s great.
Noobie question, apologies in advance, but when upgrading to a larger chainring, do you also have to swap out the crank-arms, or do those fit mostly universally?
