Hey guys, there is a 2006 Explosif for sale. I got the guy down to $250 with the brooks saddle. Is this a good deal? It will need new shcoks eventually and or fork. It's chromolly and pretty light weight. Or should I wait for a market place find like a Marin Pine Mountain?
Thanks!

That’s a nice frame. $250 is very top dollar though unless that thing is perfectly tuned and ready to ride.
If your butt is friendly with the Brooks that’s great. But they don’t work for most people.
I’m not paying extra for a Brooks. A bike is supposed to come with a saddle on it. You could sell it though. And the fork is not adding value. The opposite really.
But it’s a nice bike. If it fits you.
I think good deal due to the rarity, I was just on another thread today with someone asking for recommendations for steel 26ers with discs and there really aren’t many.. this bike and Jamis Dragon and .. idk any others.. I’d ride the crap out of this bike
That’s a weird one. It looks like whoever built it bought just the frame from Kona and built it up with 9 speed LX components. It’s an inferior build to the loadout on the complete bike… Which is what is weird, because I would be willing to bet they would have gotten a better deal buying the complete. Whatever.
Anyway, if this were a 1999 or older Explosif, yeah, $250 would be great. The newer models don’t have the same level of prestige — Dedacciai SAT is less desirable than Reynolds 853 or Columbus MAX.
I think $250 is totally fair, but it’s not amazing.
Dipper is absolutely right about the fork, by the way. The MX Comp was an anchor.
