Went to check out a LBS I haven't been to before to pick up some new pads. After an hour browsing the shop, noticed this frame buried in the back corner. Not my size but happens to be the perfect size for my GF. New old stock, never built. Didn't have the original fork but had a used cro-mo rigid fork in the same purple sitting around the back that they threw in. Curious how some of you would build this one up.

What type of riding will your gf be doing with it? First question. Does she want to get rad or just cruise around. This frame is a good place to start for many things.
Since it is in such god condition, I might look for an era/generation-appropriate wheel set/component set in good condition on ebay or something.
God that color way is outstanding.
Since you’re starting from scratch from a frame and not with a fully-built bike bought from Craigslist or Marketplace, you can build in any way you want without being pulled down by conflicting thoughts on what to do with the leftover old parts.
I’d rather build for fun casual riding than constantly keeping a bike for display only.
With aggressive tendencies
Nice, a guy in Perris Ca was selling two plum/ fuchsia red Hardrocks, one a mixte frame for a total of $100 this past weekend.
I think I’m about to switch mine from single speed to use an advent 9 speed drive train in not terribly long. I have 2.4″ tires on it that barely clear and it’s a ton of fun to ride with super wide sunrise bars.
