Still learning advice appreciated. I think I’m over rotating and spinning to fast, not sure how to correct that. Also I run my suspension low rebound and fork all the way plush, not sure if that’s optimal.
Disclaimer: Ive only done them to foam pit, but I used to do parkour and can do standing ones without the bike pretty much anywhere.
You want to generally spot the landing quicker – tilt your head back and look for it. Then you can either extend (helps to pinch your cranks to not let go of the bike) to slow down the rotation, or tuck in with your arms and legs to speed it up. When I first learned them on the bike, I was pulling back super hard and then having to fully extend in the air to slow down before trusting a lower rotation rate.
Keep in mind that with a foam pit, you are basically going to land to flat, whereas if you try on an air bag or dirt, you should under rotate a bit and nose it in so you don’t loop out and land on your ass.
For damping settings, you should try different ones, and also try backflipping a DJ or a BMX, and also practice bailing if you ever plan on taking it to dirt (which usually involves letting go of the bike and completing the flip with your body) . Backflip is one of those tricks you want to have FULL control over it after you launch, where you naturally correct or bail because you sense it going to a certain way, cause a fuck up on dirt can be bad.
