  1. Title, I don’t have a car and plan on getting one, it even then I feel like I won’t drive it much, where I live everything pretty local and an ebike sounds good for me. My commute to work is 10-15 min by car.

This seems like a good option vs the bus that takes 45 to an hour and 30 just to get to work.

Is this a good model? I want something affortable to dip my toe in to see if its right for me, vs getting a 2-3k bike only to find I’m not a fan.

I would say that getting the carry package on it is almost mandatory as a commuter. Having fenders for rainy days is a must. I don’t have this bike, but I made the jump from car to having only a bike and I love it, even on rainy days. Having the right gear will make it tolerable.

  3. Lectric is pretty well known cheap brand, haven’t heard many bad things about them. I don’t think they’re great bikes in terms of quality but they seem to be reliable enough and work well.

  4. Controversial but I think as a beginner you would find a cheap hybrid bike 2nd hand to be much more comfortable and you could do that commute easily.

That bike looks like it was put together with whatever stuff they had laying around or they could get for dirt cheap. The position looks horrible in the picture and the seat will not be comfortable in the long run.

If you don’t know that you’ll want to use a bike then just spend $200 on a regular bike rather than way more on a low-quality ebike

Edit: holy shit it’s single speed? If you live somewhere that you don’t need gears then honestly just get a regular geared bike as a start. Cycling on mostly flat terrain is fairly easy on a bike, sure you can’t go 20+mph though

  5. What to keep in mind who will repair or maintain the bike when it is needed. Some places dont want to to touch budget e-bikes. Like u can get not wanting to touch an Amazon ebike with shoddy and questionable quality. Or diy bikes but still they some of the affordable bikes likes this shouldn’t be seen as a safety hazard .
