  1. All depends on what your needs are. If you have to ride it to get to work then I’d say yeah, but you should replace them soon. If you’re planning on doing some trail riding, then I’d say you shouldn’t before replacement.

  2. We had an old Speedking mountain bike tire “explode” while I was pumping it up, sending tiny rubber bits everywhere 😂. The Vectran breaker held the tire together though

I don’t know if it’s safe to ride or not, but personally I would order new tyres immediately even if the cracked one were name brand

The “Heng shin?” tyre you have on is something I would have replaced immediately even if it were new… (and kept them as spares)

Tyres make a huge difference to how the bike feels to ride and how quickly they stop

Mine looked like this and I rode around for a while. But I would get new tires as soon as you can. Most of the time they can reuse the inner tube and tape.

I actually think that leaf caught in a spiderweb and the dusty fingerprints are more of an issue than the tires. This looks like a bike that’s been sitting in a garage for years, and given the super cheap tires it’s probably been assembled poorly by the store. The tires themselves probably aren’t going to throw you off the bike at speed, but bad brakes or a loose screw might.

If you’ve got a friend who rides bikes I’d just have them take a look.

  5. So, worst case is that the tyre splits and throws you off the bike somehow (jams the brakes, tube pops, something like that).

It might just go flat, quickly, while you go from a to b.

If you can afford new tyres, find something and fit it. You can get some pretty cheap tyres these days that are reasonable.

I don’t fuck around when it comes to anything that touches me or the road. I’d swap em out.
