Created with the #GoPro App on my iPhone. Paddy said we should go down the wall to practice technique.
and then I might give you a shout okay nor it’s nice there FR s yep okay ski instructor says the ski is going down the Swiss wall um to that never get sunsh the only thing really especially these Tres don’t worry if your tails are hanging out over the abyss it’s your you want to worry about you can stand on the back of a well this is entertaining that’s speed l on the Swiss wall no don’t stop there my friend Mery it um extra rotary separation bringing your ski tails around that be key for speed control if you want to still feel like you’re attacking it attack The Bumps by sking up them a little bit bit that’ll still feel like you’re having a good uh a good crack at it don’t be a full line descent doesn’t have to be a quick full line descent it can still be a nice skidy flare showy offy slow one by skiing up bumps and doing nice pick your own line yeah yeah pretty much um avoid going too far that way so keep yeah you not over the yeah I wouldn’t no not yet the snow Pack’s a bit thin okay um the more to the left you go um the the less camber you’re on yeah but the more to the right you go the more shady snow you’ll have which so it’s pick a happy medium I’d say pretty much where we are now dipping around and trying to stay a small tiny tiny Corridor SK SK okay Sam that’s the way to do it that bup there over low this bup here nice that there keep the hip over there keep the hip over let back there keep the hip over keep the hip over missed it keep the hip over back on to my line yep hip over hip over hip over talk to yourself is a point where yes both very there was a point where you can have too much R through separation okay trick is getting just enough um what I never want to see is pelvis facing slightly uphill while you’re trying to look down yes that’s that’s I made that mistake but what I would rather not see it’s not a disaster until you get into the Steep stuff is pelvis facing so far downhill that you end up hinging rather than hip angling my pelvis is face oh let’s let’s do spiral staircase kind of imagery you got a bit of rotation here bit of rotation here bit of rotation here bit of rotation in every single vertebrae so maybe add on two or three degrees of rotation there there there there there there so every single rotary option you’ve got has a little bit not what I think you do sometimes when the going gets tough little bit here little bit here loads and then numone yes n yes almost yeah that analysis is absolutely spot on that’s my that’s exactly I can feel myself doing that on them it makes you more Nimble and agile it’s very quick cuz you’re only turning the mass of your feet rather than the mass of your legs and pelvis but you sacrifice strength for that agility so try and stretch more up here unless on on on on narrow stance stronger low down okay here’s my turn my that’s my next hand there this one is my bump that one is should have been my bump this one is not going to be let going to right that’s better taring sorry until the end and the last turn leg breing but looking nice looking nice yeah well it’s getting a bit cheaper here so cheaper probably means smaller when if you’ve already got a bit of hip angle if you get smaller you automatically add more edge angle cuz your bomb has to to get smaller you got to put your hips over there somewhere so it adds a little bit of extra speed control am I get or are you g nice Sam very nice this one this one that one sh too much I C it this one that one this one and that one very good very good looking um when it got flatter and easier you started sending your feet out further away from you and I think that helps um if you’re too underneath yourself with your feet it’s very hard to get early smear when we were doing some smear turns over in for you were definitely sending your feet further away pressing earlier in the turns and I think that lateral displacement is coming to your skiing there as well that’s a good thing to practice [Music] um both turns are legitimate yeah but um doing that slightly longer rounder line by sending your feet all the way will spread the pressure it will be less impact impact impact it’ll be a smoother way of this guy’s doing quite impact no oh yeah no let’s not let’s not judge other people yeah all right so now it’s a little easier try and ski the roundest line you can roundish line okay round line yeah m wow punishing for the leg brakes leg brakes um bet he falls over um that was nice uh trying to figure out why it still creeps apart a little bit in terms of St switch creeping apart yeah I’ll try and spray myself oh barel roll from the speed Rider here comes another one three two one go one more no what a let down um turn yourself around we’ll go back up to Swiss W check it’s where we want to go I’m it’s a it’s a cheap jaaon glove I don’t mind if you drop it so lots of weight shift to turn hands out wide pivot pivot you can do it yeah that’s going to press him onto his little toe Edge well done almost let you get away with it then okay yep squishy knees lots of weight Shi to get [Applause] yep no punch I still have two gloves have two gloves ex bit of snow on this one yeah I dropped it just here okay yeah all right um yeah like engagement somewhere in the groin the gr okay there’s something in there there’s something going on but it’s very hard to see

WOW! Amazing and so helpful to have an expert's tips
i started skiing at age 46, I still take lessons at 52, and this is the most terrifying lesson I have ever seen.
Well done!
the wall doesn't look too bad in this vid! the top not nearly as big as it has been over the last week
As a 59 year old that started Skiing 5 years ago I am only just getting to grips with easy reds. I have had a few lessons but my god to tackle this level there is a lot more involved that keeping your weight forward and looking where you want to go not your feet! Loved it and will see if i can remember some of those tips in VT next week. Thank you and loved your talking to yourself on the way down. I do that as well 🙂
