The chain looks like this all the time, this is after a 100 miles, using Silca secret chain blend. Brushing it with a dry brush doesn’t help.
Same dirty look with indoor use only, on a trainer.
Is this normal?
I see pristine clean chains online.

Yes, this is normal. Silca has tungsten as an additive and it is black. People who’s waxed chain looks clean are waxing incorrectly and using straight paraffin which is basically colorless. Straight paraffin is perfectly fine. What they’re probably doing is pulling the chain out of the wax while it is still fully hot which causes it to drip off the chain reducing the positive effects of hot waxing.

Yeah totally normal. I also use silca secret blend.
I run boiling hot water over my cassette whenever I re-wax my chain.
Your chain is pristine under the wax if it makes you feel better.
