It’s hard to tell exactly- but it looks like you might have that adjustable wrench on the axle nut. If your cassette has a “lockring” you will need a cassette tool- fit that into your lockring and try loosening that first.

The absolute best leverage you can get is when the chain whip is on the wider cogs and the spanner is straight with the chain whip.
If not you need extra leverage do not try to force a tool to work if you don’t have enough leverage or you can break your wrists.

Maybe try applying some sort of lubricant aswell. I once destroyed a Sram x01 cassette due to brute force which subsequently broke all of the inner theeth which are meant to grip the removal tool.

Have the wheel sitting against ur shins and push down u will want to take the quick release out of the wheel first

Your adjustable wrench looks like it‘s not tightend enough. Better use a ring spanner to prevent sliding off and damaging your cassette removal tool.

I like the idea of using the QR to hold the cassette tool in. But is it possible that if it was too tight it could be preventing the lock ring from unscrewing?
In general I’d put some penetrating liquid around the lock ring and try any way to get more leverage. Longer spanner. Whip on biggest cog.

if you have a bench vise, clamp the extractor in that (with the wheel either on top of the vise or to the side of the vise), and you can get both hands on the chain whip. I have to say, the handle on the whip is shorter than I’m used to seeing

Dont use an adjustable wrench, they are super good at buggering up nuts, and fingers.
Use a correct size ring spanner, or even better a socket with a long handle.
Or a rattle gun.

The wrench and whip should be about 3 oclock and 9 oclock positions. Stand behind the wheel so the cassette is pointing away from you. Push down on both sides! The 6” adjustable may not be long enough. I use 12” without any problems most of the time.

I think you’re using the adjustable wrench wrong. The fixed part of the jaw should be where the adjustable/moving part is, while the adjustable part of the jaw should be on the bottom. So flip it. And a someone mentioned, stand behind the wheel and use your weight as added leverage to push the wrench down. Handle of chain whip should be between the 2-3 o ‘clock position.

Put the chain whip on the smallest cog 180 apart from your wrench and then use your body weight

Get a lenght of pipe and insert it over the wrench handle. More leverage! Either that or get someone’s dada to do it…Dad strenght! lol

I usually put them them on the same axis. I find pinching them together is easier to get it started

In the shop, when we get a difficult one, I put the removal tool in the jaws of a vice then use the chain whip with a cheater-bar over it. Never failed yet.

I have a bit of steel pipe I use to extend my adjustable spanner. Works really well

1. You need bigger wrench or cheater bar. Never use a cheater bar while tightening but it is ok while loosening.
2. You are using the wrench wrong way. You will snap the adjustable teeth if you apply enough force that way. Turn it around in your hand.

So I had a situation like this and no matter how much leverage I use it just would not budge until out of frustration i picked up the wheel and bashed it on the floor while holding th tools and it seems the shock made it release

As you’re using a nut fucker flip it around as you aren’t supposed to use the moving jaw to apply the torque.

been there, gone to LBS, mechanic dissed chain whips, and got my cassette out with a proper cassette wrench.
Bought one few times later.
