In die sentrale strate van die stad het water ‘n vlak van meer as ‘n meter bereik, wat die beweging van verkeer en die werk van nooddienste belemmer het. Die burgemeester van Boulay-de-Moselle, Jean-Paul Clément, het burgers gevra om veilig te bly en die instruksies van redders te volg. Bykomende vuur- en militêre magte is na die stad gestuur om reddingsoperasies uit te voer en bystand aan die slagoffers te verleen. Die oorstromings het die stad se infrastruktuur ontwrig: verskeie skole en kleuterskole is gesluit, en elektrisiteit en watertoevoer is tydelik in sommige gebiede afgesny. Die stad het tydelike verblyfsentrums opgerig vir diegene wat gedwing is om hul huise te verlaat. Meteoroloë voorspel voortgesette reën in die komende dae, wat die situasie kan vererger.
