  1. You might have worn out the cassette with the old chain… a new chain will than skip/slide over the old sprockets.

  2. If it’s slipping, you probably have a worn cassette. To tell if the chain is too long we would need a picture of the drivetrain in the biggest gear in the front AND the back.

  3. The chain is on the largest (outer) of the front crankring. Shift it to the smallest (inner) and see what it looks like then. If the chain is too long, it will become very obvious.
