Gday.
I'm looking at entry level XC bikes. I come from a history of endurance running so I will want to be getting into XC and maybe marathon if tome allows eventually.
At my price point I have narrowed down to the Polygon Xstrada 5 and the Reid Tract 4.
These bikes appear more or less identical except:
Drive Terain
– Xstrada deor 2×10
– Tract deor 1×12
Wheels
– Xstrada 2x QR. Tubeless compatible.
– Tract front though, rear QR. Not tubless compatible.
Forks
– Xstrada Suncore XCM 120mm
– Tract Suncore XCM 130mm
The bike I am borrowing atm runs a deor 1×12, 2x QR non tubless, unsure about the forks. It is a size to small for me though and has 27.5 wheels instead of 29. Same brakes as these bikes too.
I like the 1×12 set up. So simple and the gears aren't lacking. However I worry that the 1x through and 1x QR set up on that tract will casuse headaches if I want to upgrade the wheels.
What are your thoughts?
Cheers!
