My son is kind of short even for a 13 yr old, and is currently on a cheaper 2021 Trek fuel EX 5 Gen 5.
Budget is about 4500 (could go higher if needed) and ideally 2020 or newer. He rides trail/enduro, so maybe 140mm fork to 180mm. Yes, we live in Florida (santos) but take trips to Jarrod's place often. He's usually on black or double black tech, or black/blue jumps (but is working his way up).
Based off his current bike, he would want more playful suspension, slacker head tube, longer reach (by 10mm or so, don't go crazy), and to STICK WITH 27.5 WHEELS PLEASE. If it helps he's about 105-110 lbs. Thanks!

Keep the bike for another year or two, add a slightly longer stem and upgrade the fork to bomber z1 https://www.marzocchi.com/collections/suspension/products/2023-bomber-z1?variant=32319776620646 (increase the travel to 150 that the bike supports).
It will be like a new bike anyway, and save the big money when he’s grown a little.
