Hey – I saw this bike on my local craigslist, and was wondering if the price is fair and what I should look out for or consider?

I did see another option on eBay for a red frame but I am not sure which chainset / derailleurs it uses; but that is going for $650. So it seems like these bikes go around $600 or so? I am also comparing this with a brand new Contend 3 (but with claris).

It’s not the deal of the century, but it’s a fair deal.

That said it’s not going to be the “best” commuter, u til it gets fenders, a rack, and panniers

  3. The picture doesn’t match the description. Maybe that’s what the bike had when it was new but I count 3 chainrings up front so the drivetrain has been swapped out with something cheaper.

I don’t think it’s worth $600. Honestly, I’d value it closer to half that. It’s a decent bicycle but there is nothing special about it. It looks like it’s from 2011 although the shifters appear to be older than that. From a commuting standpoint it doesn’t look like it would easily take racks or fenders and probably can’t fit a wider, more comfortable tire.
