As winter embraces the UK, name a better season to explore some of the country’s Parkrun locations!

As I was racing in Doncaster over the weekend, I decided to head over to the longest-standing local Parkrun in the area. And what a delight!

I hope you enjoy the footage, if you want any further details you can see my Strave activity here – https://www.strava.com/activities/10277388927

I am also going to upload to Instagram more frequently at endorphin_empire, so go and give that a follow!

See you next week,
Bye!

hello and welcome to sandal Park [Music] parkering good morning we have an Arctic blast uh abusing the UK at the moment it is nippy outside today but with nice clear skies which means it’s gorgeous nice Frosty morning better L than wind and rain and I am down near Doncaster I have a a race down here tomorrow I have the Doncaster 10K and I’ve come to sandal park for a little Park from this morning lovely park at the moment really really close to Doncaster Town Center um currently T but I do know this is a mixed ter Rin course so we’ll get into that in a bit but a few pointers before we we do get started today number one if you like these videos please remember to like comment share subscribe blah blah blah blah blah number two there are toilets available um no idea where there’s no information on the park run app the park 5K app thing um I’m sure they’re not too far from the start line there’s mac and all sorts around so if you’re desperate you can dip into them um it’s like a big industrial estate with all sorts of shops and bits and pieces around us under foot it is going to have to be Trail shoot I think there is a 500 M stretch of TAC I’ve been able to find out but otherwise it is going to be running on grass it is potentially a quick course I’ve seen the PB is 16 minutes but I can imagine that is when the ground is firm when conditions are good and then in terms of anything else so what have we got we got toilets oh parking um parking was easy there’s a car park right beside the start line if you just type in sandal Park and just go around the park you’ll be able to find all sorts of parking on side streets and things like that now without any further Ado let’s head straight into a course overview look around today’s uh running route and then we’ll get over to the start line and see what all the fuss is about 30 second course overview let’s go so you start by doing a lap around the lake that’s in sandal park that’s about 1 kilometer in total then you venture onto the playing field and go and do two full laps of the sandal Park when you do that um it is a bit buggy it can be a bit treacherous Under Foot so if youve got your trail shoes you’ll be fine um it’s just that I can imagine in the summer it’s very compact so you run really well then but it’s a tiny bit undulating not much at all um could be a quick course the record’s about 16 minutes so yeah get yourself down here it’s a lovely park running lovely volunteers so enjoy it one [Music] he [Music] so we’re nearly Halfway Around Central Park qu very congested at the start but I’ve seen from the course overv it’s 1 km on time where people fight after all happening soon as you hit the grass it spreads up nicely that’s lovely route um no heroic stve for me last kilometer or anything like that just taking it easy ging the legs a a shake out ready for don’t cast 10K tomorrow but uh even with all the recent rain and stuff it’s not that bgy at all already it’s quite dry this week comp pack to Trails probably about 2 km total to which is nice not a bad course at all so I’ll see you uh the finish line [Music] now [Music] [Music] down down down long [Applause] [Music] done guys so the run is done now the most important part of our day getting over to a cafe time for a cafe review so let’s head there now I’m actually going to see what the one around the apartment is like first but I’ve got my eyes on one in Doncaster Town Center which looks incredi so uh let’s get over to both of them now and uh see what feasts I can enjoy Cafe at sandal parked and usted I think I forgot to record me meating again but maybe better than me actually eating um kind of like a Motorway services like an old school one uh cheap cheerful no cake unfortunately so I’m going to have to venture out at lunchtime to to find some cake somewhere um but bacon sauce and egg bun was good coffee was good so it’s what you want isn’t it and it’s right beside the finish line so yeah Happy Days there going to give the cafe solid little shout out get yourself there just a quick Park and uh yeah maybe go find Kate and D cast Town Center or something like [Music] that how are you doing that’s sandal Park R done and dusted we’re all finished for another week lovely little Park really enjoyed the running around here and the volume volunteers was fantastic there was a a local running club getting involved in volunteering so please do make sure you are trying your best to get out there and volunteer a bit I’m guilty myself of maybe not doing it enough I think the 5K app is detriment of with our tourist streaks and things like this but Park runs don’t happen there’s so many cancelled especially when it gets cold every week purely just because there a lack of volunteers and yeah get out there enjoy your running one pizza won’t make you fat one Park won’t make you fit just get out there have a good time and I’ll see you next week from another location [Music] ciao

  1. Did you do curlys Doncaster 10k? They always put on some amazing events. Thinking of doing the seaside ultra with them next year and definitely doing the school endurance Rae again.

  2. Grant, your videos are really useful and it has inspired me to do some different parkruns around the NE. Keep it up you deserve many more subscribers and views than you are getting at the moment.
