I’m rebuilding an old trek frame (first time working on bikes) and had a question about the bottom bracket.
This one seems pretty old and may be called Sugino now. Is it worth spending the money for a new version like this $190ish or look for a Shimano that is more readily available.
How do I determine the specs needs for a new bracket from these numbers? Or are there measurements I need off the bike?

The easiest way would be to measure the old spindle. $190 for a spindle and cup set? Where are you getting your numbers from? You could find something for 1/10th that price.
You need the width of the square taper axle and the width of the bottom bracket shell on the frame (68 or 73mm and then it’s just a standard JIS taper BSA bottom bracket Shimano will be fine. You might just be able to grease the existing one though as it looks like the serviceable cup and cone type.
