Looking to purchase a 2022/23 Giant Escape 3 for 400 CAD (~320 USD). The owner mentioned it had been left outside for a season (in Canada, where there can be snow and rain in the winter), and there's definitely some rust on the chain, cassette, bolts, and crank arm. I forgot to check for rust on the inside of the tube, but it seemed pretty clean otherwise.
It (test) rides pretty well (though my previous frames of reference are beater bikes), and after applying some chain lube, the gears seemed fairly smooth, though there was a time when shifting up when the chain came off (it came back on when I shifted down). There was also some minor clicking noise when I was riding on one of the gear settings, but it went away after shifting.
I know these are super noob questions, but I'd appreciate any insight as to whether these concerns are overblown. Thanks in advance!
