My older brother recently gave me this Eisentraut.
He intended to ride it in the famous 1976 bike tour across America in celebration of the Bicentennial.
The details are fuzzy from his wounded pride but I do know it ended badly. He was intentionally forced into a ditch by a trucker and screwed up his wheels in the middle of nowhere, alone.

He wasn't an experienced biker. Personally, I can't imagine taking a 10 speed road bike across the USA , through the mountains, without a cell phone or any support but, it was a long time ago, things were harder for serious bike riders back then.

He eventually bought new wheels but never put the bike back together. It's been in storage since 1976. Mostly original, I installed the new 27 inch wheels he had bought for its fix, changed the brakes, replaced the shifter and added a saddle.

It rides fabulously, but it's too big for me, nowadays. The bike is going up on Craigslist (Detroit).
