Me again. Did same ride but found new spot to do another shake down. But I chose the exact moment where all bugs on earth spawn. I have never seen so many bugs as once and I have guided in the bush during black fly, camped in jungles post monsoon season. Fortunately they don’t bite but all they want to do is be in your eyes, mouth, nose, ears. They were attracted to light and cared nothing about smoke and fire. Tried to smug fire them away, did nothing. After two hours beside fire full face covered decided to retire to the hammock. Got really cold and the waters breeze picked up. Hard to adjust underquilt when opening hammock screen was an avalanche of bugs.
Gear: Have found a few fine tunes I need to do to my contact points. Really eager to get my frame bag and fork bags to help spread the weight around. New dry bag was perfect. Need to dial in my hammock tarp set up as for the first time I put tarp on separate line ( not attacked to tree straps. Swift sugarloaf was great for groceries and keeping camp tidy. Sea to summit big river is simply the nicest dry bag I have ever seen ( was a canoe guide for 6 years).
Weather: Nice cool dropped to 5 Celsius. BUGS.
Tea: none… bugs.
Book: didn’t read… bugs.
Moral: Bugs.
PS: decided to try and up my pic game since y’all have such nice pics! Sorry for my potato photo.
