Part 3 of the 3 part series: Lochaber to the Lakes, this last episode follow NCR 7 and quiet roads from the campsite near Annan over the border, through Carlisle and Penrith and on to our destination on the shores of Ullswater in the North West Lake District.
Episode 1: “Gravel” Started with our 2 day journey on An Turas Mor from Rannoch Station to Glasgow via the Trossachs with James and Jess in a small group, while most of the rest of the team started from the Shores of Loch Eil near Fort William and used roads to get to Glasgow.
We met in Glasgow and were joined by the Glasgow contingent who then split again, while I took NCR 42 to ride from Glasgow direct to Annan in episode 2: “Solo” the rest of the team took 2 days to ride NCR7 through Dumfries and Galloway.
In this episode James and Jess went ahead, and the rest of the team rode in a peloton the remainder of the journey, being joined by our final team member south of Carlisle. The weather wasn’t great, and as the motorway was closed around Penrith and Carlisle the drivers were pretty poor (what’s on film here is just the tip of the iceberg) but riding together and chatting to lots of different folks was a lovely way to finish, and there were several quality cafe opportunities on the way too.
