Disclaimer: I haven’t had a bike with gears in almost 20 years (just been riding single speed/fixed) so I’m a bit derailleur dumb. My new bike arrived and after a lap around the block I noticed a bit of a clunkiness with a sound that doesn’t seem right (I could be mistaken). After inspecting the rear derailleur it looks like maybe the pulley cage is bent. I tried my best to capture this in the picture. Is this normal for this component? I couldn’t really tell from online stock photos. I also noticed some paint wear on the derailleur itself and I’m wondering how that would show up on a new bike.
I have ordered a derailleur alignment tool but that’s more for the hanger itself. Is this hardware ok or should I be contacting Canyon about it? Thank you in advance.
