mik yeah you ever been on yeah and then suddenly it’s gravel yeah I am joanni gueri hi I’m dud and we are Sicily divide and the food when we could get it oh my God I’m in heaven with the food I have to say I really like unless a Whole Town’s on Siesta or on a funeral then and just like the sweet treats as well so tried lots of things really good food just the whole time where are we H we’re in Sicily what’s the plan today first coffee and then we’re going to climb up to scopello so that’s going to be our starting point for the roof for glorious gravel um we went there yesterday it’s really pretty pretty little place [Music] [Applause] [Music] foree [Music] what are you eating I’m eating a pan konato Which is apparently a specialty of scopello where we are which is where we’ll start our trip um the kind man in the uh that makes them has explained in Italian all about it I don’t speak Italian but I think it’s going to be delicious tomato and oily m m SM really good how’s it taste gorgeous we’ve left scell now and we’re starting the route that we’re hopefully going to be doing in November October October hel’s had a second coffee I’m buzzing coffee in Italy the route from here is about 70k uh currently climbing for a road climb but as we’ve been told the tarmac is really broken tarmac and is in pretty poor condition so a gravel bike is perfect and nice to be in shorts in a jersey [Music] [Music] scorchio we’re currently doing a bit of hi B in the Monte capano Nature Reserve it’s absolutely stunning and I’m not too bothered about hiking the bike to be honest uh the SE is as blue as can be and some rock faces to the left and I’ve just slammed my pedal on a [Music] rock enjoying it hen yeah yes my face might not look like it right now no it’s good fun it’s quite interesting to kind of come around this little gol Golfo bit and kind of s I made up wood I have no idea sounds [Applause] Italian go with it um yeah to kind of do a little bit of hi bike very very Scenic it’s absolutely beautiful but yeah hiking it’s hiking it’s definitely hiking [Music] we’re currently cycling to Grotto mapani and Helen said I’ll regret it for the rest of my life if I don’t go and see it so um we’re going see it we’re on our way to Trapani where we finish today’s ride I think we’ve got about 30k left and it’s about 5:00 I think we spent too much time looking at the blue sea and uh flapping around with cameras that we’ve uh maybe running out of [Music] daylight it looks like a cake you okay h no I’m shaking that was a lot what you got there Josh fizy pomegranate juice which is delicious ni um with a a map of Sicily on so assume it’s from here and then some like pastry with like lemon lemony Citrus filling it’s it pretty nice is it lemony it’s lemony and warm [Music] you ready to descend the chani definitely [Music] [Music] where’s the hotel down there somewhere I have no idea where feeling we might get lost so cold no it’s beautifully hot about 1 and a half miles to the accommodation not going to go on properly no I really need some sliders there that there there’s socks and Crocs and there’s socks and Burks but that’s like another level yeah I’m I just have to be careful I don’t like trick myself but it kicks my feet w [Music] the second day of riding we’re just leaving Trapani went to the fish market and we’re cycling about 120 130 km along the coast just had a quick lunch stop in misala uh stopped up on a few snacks from the supermarket and yeah back on the road again cycling along the sea [Music] bimo there was such random trash on that beach someone had discarded a toilet seek [Music] so we actually stopped and went in the sea today Josh was a bit braver than I was cuz he actually went all the way in and I just went in very briefly very yeah yeah it was nice though it was a bit bit cold to start with nice to have wet shorts for an hour or two yeah it was actually really nice cuz it’s been a super warm day today yeah not a huge amount of gravel not a huge amount of gravel but that’s what wck is exactly it was fun some of the bits like right along by the coast where it was and then bit Sandy and stuff like that that was cool and the water is like blue blue oh my goodness it’s so blue so clear that’s why we had to go in we’ve been talking about going in since we got here so we actually did um and it’s like really really shallow so you could walk out for ages nice where’s your wine from Helen it’s from this very area as then just over there on the hill apparently just past the pool just past the ball yeah the third row of grapes to the left it’s really nice actually very cold refreshing yeah nicer than the sea yeah nicer than the sea oh [Music] okay this is U masteral car boy um we opening in April last year after 2 years of renovated do this is very very um Old Farm um this Farm the building is in 1923 the fruit you know this fruit the F India fed India fruit a fake or no it’s a Fed India I know it’s ready now but usually the the the temp is the October November is it the cactus fruit yeah cactus fruit yeah it’s really good I like it it’s uh is the experience is the garden man arrive take the fruit cleaning and after go to the client is beautiful nice you see it’s very beautiful here and that’s typical of Sicily yeah yeah is um end of August all is full of fruit cor is we finished today ah yeah you’re finishing Corona but Corona is famous for the you know for the the story of the the is that the town of the big boss you know grandfather you know padrino he was padrino in Italiano day of palmo or this part is very famous the street food the street food Arina and it’s very traditional plate is is a pasta L Norma or is a pasta with the uh eggplants tomato olive oil oh how o o is [Music] good the nice uh bike path has turned into a damic ccal style um Railway Crossing uh you first Josh set the tripod up and uh ride across how many how long do you think it would last do you think it would be like would I get anyway across or would it be like straight into the abyss I think you go straight not not even like get a little bit onto the railway just like straight down that’s not to say that you’re not skillful on a bike Josh but do you think my camera on my back’s like waiting me yeah I if I didn’t have the camera on the back I think I’d be all right stoss there no problem yeah yeah um reot [Music] we’re in Italy no Italy there’s no gelato what is going get people to do just use them oh okay basilica [Music] we’re currently riding up a gravel climb and the juer position between the beautiful wild flowers and then all the trash we’re seeing fridges toilets sofas and chairs [Applause] [Music] [Music] for for [Music] we’ve just been through sambuka we were hoping to stop for something to eat but all the shutters were down and there was a funeral going on so I think everyone’s just gone to that um I’m waffling can I not say that no you can say that so close we’ve just had the worst luck sorry to the person that died all the shops were closed the spa was closed it’s either CEST it or everyone was at the funeral the SP never closes well it does sometimes [Music] I’m going to make Carone an offer they can’t refuse for a pizza because I’m bloody starving um been a long day on the bike not really stopped for any decent food [Music] 6 minutes to our accommodation but it was Steep Hill you thought it was yeah Steep Hill apparently steep hill but it’s um 7 m up and 37 M down woohoo I think we’ve earned that today and a big pizza is there a Enjoyed the video but I don't think Sicily is a country.

À very very inspiring video trip. Thanks for this sharing moments
Yes Helen, cold pizza for breakfast is always a great idea!!!Especially when it’s an authentic pie like that one 😃
Trap A Nee ?
The "Magna Via Francigena" is a 9-day christian pilgrimage hike from Palermo to Agrigento. I slow rode it in 2019. Second stop was Corleone. Ate at your pizza place 🙂 Prizzi, on the mountain, not to be missed. Agrigento incredible temples.
Also, you may want to go check out the Trans-Sardinia also. I rode it south to north, from Cagliari to Olbia. More mountainous, remote than Sicily. Cheers.
Of all your vids, Josh, I pretty much enjoyed this the most. You are so relaxed and happy.
Hi, which tire width did you use for this trip? Is 40mm enough? BR Andreas
Wow. I spent most of my childhood-summers in the area you were cycling through. Seems I should rediscover it again by bike.
Thx for sharing.
Discovered your video by chance. Enjoyed it tremendously – makes me want to repeat your journey…
Stunning and most precious video! Thank you both for the joy hat shone through!

the food and the people are great… we will certainly try it again
Could you share the route ?
Well that was an absolute feast for the eyes to watch Josh. Pieced together beautifully.
I really enjoyed it! Thanks for sharing this for us! And I hope you are doing well! Working hard makes you stronger! That's what you are! And Never give up! Keep going because you are great! And you got my full support!
but that's just a tiny slice of the island. And you didn't manage to go over the common places.
What a great video. These impressions, wow. You have the feeling of being there. Without the tired legs.
Fabulous! I spent a month in Catania, and one in Siracusa, and one in Palermo, but it never felt safe to cycle from city center to the quiet country lanes, so I didn't. This makes me want to try it again, with a bit more courage.
As soon as the content begins harping about coffe content and making a fuss over white spingy bread..Im gone..tourist all about simple unhealthy unsuffisticated lifestyle..bye bye, Im off to the more essentials
Very nice video. Beeing a few times in Veneto, Umbria and Lake Garda I can imagine how good the food was. Very friendly and sweet people there….
