The frame on my current bike cracked and to their credit bikesonline.com.au gave me store credit for the full price I paid. Current bike is a Marin San Rafael DS2:

I use it for exercise and do 21km each day around 6 days a week. I'm in Australia just outside Sydney, mostly ride on sealed road and concrete bike path, about 80% flat with a few gentle slopes and a couple of steeper hills.

I wear through my gears on the current bike especially as the drive train collects some mud, and the idea of a low maintenance gear system is very appealing.
I worry though that the top gear ratio might be low (or is it high?) and leave me pedalling away going slower than I want. Is that a big concern? Anything else I should be thinking about?
Because it's store credit I have to pick a bike from bikesonline.com.au, I've got AUD$899 credit with them and I'd be OK spending an extra AUD$500 on top of that for the right bike. I like flat bars and a 700 x 40ish tyre.
