The Ballyconnell to Ballyheady trail has been officially opened, making it one of the country’s hottest recreation spots.
The 5.5km trail will form part of a wider greenway crossing counties Cavan and Leitrim.
we’re delighted to be here today to officially open the valley connell to balihidi recreational trail we’re all the time trying to add to the the outer assets that we have in the county and use what we have here in calvin ireland sydney heartland’s the proposition is very much about being active in nature and getting out and uncovering um the hidden gems in this area and this is such a fantastic way of enabling people to do that people can walk people can cycle people can you know it’s right beside the the rivers right beside the waterways so people can paddle as well it’s all about just enabling people to get out and experience what they have on their doorstep we’re always trying to provide reasons for visitors to come here and reasons for visitors to stay here so increase the number of days that people spend in the county and increase the number of nights that people spend in the county so the more time they spend here the more money they spend here and the better it is for the local economy first things first if local community uses you’re you’re you’re winning straight away these things are done with the local community in mind yes but they and then visitors come here and there then it’s an added they’re added beneficiaries to this
