Hi all,
I have a Sonder Camino AL, it’s my first gravel bike and I love it, but I hate the brakes, maybe it’s coming from MTB but these cable Tekro’s are awful, they are on or off.
Question is, what are a budget option for a set of hydraulic brakes? I don’t know much about drop bar setups so I’m guessing they have to be SRAM Apex to match the levels?

Hydraulic brakes need new levers. If the levers are compatible with your derailleur, you can use it, otherwise you might need a new one. Hydraulic brakes are usually not a „budget“ upgrade unless you’re running shimano mechanical stuff and buy those new hydraulic sensah brifters. Although they are not „cheap“ they are more affordable than shimano brifters and they seem to work pretty well.
Had the same situation with a budget bike and really shitty mechanical disc brakes (would hardly stop the bike).
Went for semi hydraulic brakes (TRP HY/RD). It makes a huge difference and I would say it is worth a try for less than 100€ per brake.
